Everyday, thousands of TDG regulated products are handled, transported, and offered for transport throughout Canada. This online TDG training program will provide course participants with an understanding of the hazards and regulatory requirements associated with dangerous goods controlled products.
Who needs this training?
- Anyone who handles, transports a TDG controlled product (i.e. a WHMIS product)
- including the shipping, receiving, drivers and loaders within the firm. They must also receive WHMIS training
TDG regulations utilise the standardised identification of dangerous goods using the United Nations (UN) numbering system, for example UN1203 is gasoline in Canada, Brazil and Germany even though it has different names in languages other than English.

Upon successful completion, a 3 year TDG certificate will be issued automatically.

Although TDG is a Federal regulation some provinces have enacted local rules. For example Manitoba defines 'importing' as being imported into Manitoba from another province as well as from another country. For convenience Olelearning has captured the TDG Provincial Regulations which can be reviewed by province.
The Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and Regulations are enforced by weigh scale operators, federal or provincial transport departments, custom officials , federal, provincial, and local police agencies.
There are 9 classes of Dangerous Goods, many with additional subclasses. The classes represent groupings of similar products.
Class 1 - Explosives
Class 2 - Gases
Class 3 - Flammable Liquids
Class 4 - Flammable Solids; Solids Spontaneously Combustible; Water Reactive Substances
Class 5 - Oxidizing Substances & Organic Peroxides
Class 6 - Toxic & Infectious Substances
Class 7 - Radioactive Material
Class 8 - Corrosive Material
